David N. Shane

President and Chief Executive Officer of LDI, Ltd. LLC in Indianapolis.  He has served LDI since 1997.   Shane graduated from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana in 1970.  Following graduation he taught English.  In 1975 he received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law.  From 1975 until 1996 he practiced law at Baker & Daniels, representing businesses, higher education institutions, government and school districts in human resource and education matters. 

In addition to volunteer work for social service, cultural, religious and amateur athletic institutions and initiatives, Shane’s civic and community activities have included work in education.  He has served

  • on the Board of Trustees of Wabash College;
  • as a member of the Dean’s advisory board at the School of Informatics at Indiana University;
  • on the board of the Center for Inquiry in the Liberal Arts;
  • on the advisory board for the Butler Business Accelerator;
  • on the Indiana Education Roundtable; and
  • as a member of the Indianapolis Public Schools GRADES citizen group.

Shane has done education, economic development and related work for the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.  He assisted Mayor Peterson of Indianapolis in starting the Mayor’s Charter School Board, on which he served for several years.  He chaired the K-12 subcommittee of the Indiana Government Efficiency Commission in 2003-2004.  In 2005-2006 he served as a Senior Advisor for Education and Employment to Governor Mitch Daniels, focusing on workforce development, higher education and K-12 education.
